What is eating behavior?

Uncomfortable answers to questions/23 February 2022

Food behavior - is something that is habitual for us every day:

  • the way you feel about food.
  • whether or not you add dessert.
  • whether or not you want to snack all the time.
  • how often you repeat a cutlet with mashed potatoes and bread for dinner "just because it’s been around for the last 5 years and that’s about your average dinner"
  • how much you substitute some kind of joy/sadness/tiredness or just out of habit have a glass of wine/beer for dinner
  • how much you pay attention to labels in the supermarket or buy always following the same habitual trajectory

In general, an adult’s eating behavior is influenced by a person’s lifestyl or daily routine:

  • how busy it is
  • how much time you take to rest or is it a constant race

Eating behavior is influenced by understanding that food is really important or is it technical calories, rewarding, just something sweet/salty.

It’s great when you see your body’s response in the mirror because food is literally what builds our cells and they give feedback very quickly from the inside out.

It’s important to remember that eating behavior - is one of the key factors in shaping our health for now and with these daily steps we:

  • directly trigger or disable certain genes that are embedded in us
  • bring disease closer or further away
  • directly influence the quality of our body (tone, skin condition).

Eating behavior is nurtured. It’s a skill that needs to be learned and what’s important is that if any question triggers "should I really be rethinking my diet?" come up, it’s imperative that you find the source, understand "is it true?" and if you have an understanding of your current state right now to reflect "is this change really necessary?" and if -"yes", which ones and you can ask for help. That’s okay, too.

The good news is that even the longest-lasting, negative eating behavior is reversible and it can be changed.
